2012, I believe is going to be a year of economic reckoning! The signs are already here with more government announcements of austerity, cutbacks, rising unemployment and the degrading of countries once classed as ‘super powers’.

Over the last several decades the  global economy has piled on the pounds with too much debt and greed and as such is now going through a much needed ‘cleansing’ to not only shed the weight but realign and get healthy. It is for this reason why I appreciate the value of Gold so much. First of all it is the oldest currencies in the world; it has always retained its value; and finally it is a thermometer to how sick the economy really is. As such, gold may fluctuate due to market manipulation, but it will continue to rise for the foreseeable future; there is unfortunately still quite a way to go before the economy – globally and nationally, gets healthy again.
